On Oprah, " Working Your Dream Career"

“Oprah’s” guests included Tony Danza, Serena Williams, and Angie Harmon.  Tony Danza originally went to school to study to be a school teacher. He then went into boxing. Through his boxing career he was casted on to the television series, “Taxi”.  Tony always wanted to re-ignite his career and reach out to helping children. Through an original A&E series, he was hired on to be a high school English teacher at a large magnet school. The series shows his rocky start, his ups and downs. He also got in trouble on the first day of work for not signing in.  One student was skeptical of Mr. Danza’s abilities and did not trust he would receive a quality education from his class. In the end, Tony pulled it together and made the A grade. 

The series from start to finish can be seen on A&E.

Serena Williams has a dream of becoming a nail technician. She is taking courses to take her career all the way. She has had a passion for doing nails since she was a child. She often coordinates her look with Venus, especially for appearances and matches. She met Oprah in the Harpo Spa and gave her a foot massage with a pedicure.  Serena  is serious about her pursuit and plans on taking  900 hours in training. 

Oprah used the time to ask Serena some interesting questions.  

Oprah asked Serena about love. Serena responded that love hurts.  They discussed how when she is in a love relationship, it’s almost as if she has to hold a piece of herself back. 

Men want women to make them feel needed. 

Oprah advised that you must always let your light shine bright; don’t dim your light to be in a love relationship. 

What do you give as a tip to Serena Williams when she does your nails?  Advice to enlighten her life.

Angie Harmon, now starring in the series “Rizzoli and Isles” has a real life desire to work as a forensics examiner. She visited a forensics lab and observed how crimes are solved using human remains. The examiner showed her the fractured bones of an infant. Harmon felt relieved to know that the person who murdered the infant was in jail.  The lab liked Harmon so much; they wished they could hire her. For now she will continue with her acting career. By observing her, she does have the passion to be a true to life investigator.

The stars on “Oprah” had other career aspirations than being a celebrity. Perhaps they have discovered that being in the limelight is not the end all. At some point in your life you want to head towards your true calling. Most of us in life do not get the opportunity to rise up and become what we desire to be in life. If you could choose to be anything right now, what would you do for a living?

On “Oprah”, Woman Sues Husband for 12.5 Million When She Contracts HIV

It wasn’t easy for Bridgette to share her story on “Oprah”. Her husband became ill on the way back from their honeymoon. He was soon diagnosed with AIDS. Bridgette knew she was careful with her past partners. She also didn’t have unprotected intercourse with her husband until shortly before the wedding. She was bowled over to learn of his diagnosis. She searched the internet to find out if there was a unique way other than intercourse that she should have contracted HIV.
One day upon looking at the family computer she encountered some odd searches and communications. Upon further investigating she learned her new beau was living a double life. He had many sexual encounters with men on a personal site for men. She confronted him with detailed sexual emails she had discovered. His response was defiant. He was a former entertainment executive. He dismissed his behavior as still giving her the privilege of having an affluent lifestyle. Bridgette was successful in her own right being a project manager and already knew how to provide for herself very well.
After divorcing her husband and a seven year court battle, Bridgette was awarded 12.5 million dollars for being infected with HIV from her husband. He has since filed bankruptcy and she has not seen a penny of the judgment. Bridgette did not hesitate to correct “Oprah” when she was compared to being a survivor like Magic Johnson. She gave the audience an education that Magic is not exactly the poster child for HIV. He has unlimited money, doctors and people to cook and care for him. The side effects of the medication are fierce. People on their own have a much harder time caring for themselves with this disease. Bridgette is now limited to the resources she receives on public assistance.
The part of the interview that surprised me was Bridgette announced she was now pregnant with a baby girl. She has found love again and plans to raise her child with the “Baby Daddy”. She said that with the treatment she is using, the chances of her baby being infected with HIV is less than 1%. You learn something new all the time on “Oprah”.
This interview opened the show theme about men who are “living on the down low”. They may be married or involved in heterosexual relationships, but hiding their gay lifestyle. The show also showed interviews with two men who were living secret gay lives. One was married to his high school sweetheart and just devastated her, two children later. He had the nerve to tell her by introducing her to his lover. The other man feared coming out. This was due to the depiction of gays in the Christian church as being pedophiles, or criminals. I guess with hell fire and damnation, who could blame someone for not wanting to come out.
The show was geared towards educating women on how to determine if they suspect the man in their life having an affair, chances are, that affair might not be with a woman.

5 Most Interesting Points of the Lisa Marie Presley Interview with "Oprah".

I watched the interview wanting to know why she would get on television and speak about her relationship with Michael Jackson. It should after all be personal. Would it really do any service to his fans to understand such a bizarre mating between Lisa and Michael?

I found it very hard to believe that such an unlikely pair could have a believable marriage. It more appeared as a series of publicity stunts.  Lisa Marie Presley brought out some very interesting information that seemed like both a series of common traits and coincidences between her father and Michael.

1.       The house where Michael Jackson died was located literally right across the street from the former Presley home in California. Lisa was not sure if Michael Jackson knew about her father owning their former home nearby. This discovery was pointed out by her mom to her. She drove by after Jackson’s passing and was shocked to see how close in proximity the two estates were.

2.       Lisa discussed Michael sharing with her on one occasion that he might end up like her father. She also notes a second occasion where he shared with her a concern for his life and thought someone was trying to kill him in order to gain financial benefit. She discussed with him to remain aware and to keep off of drugs so he would be more apprised of things going on around him.

3.       Lisa said based upon her personal observation of the 2003 interview with Martin Bashir, she claims he was high and not himself during the interview. She also said that he said shock provoking statements about sleeping with children in his bed, just to be devious. He really didn’t mean those statements. He had the tendency to say weird things to shock people and take them aback when he was angry about the accusations. Lisa did not believe Michael was capable of harming a child. She advised him to stay strong during the court proceedings.

4.       Lisa said her marriage with Michael was very real. For four years after they divorced they were still on and off working to see if they could get back together. She last spoke to him in 2005 to get closure and shut him for her own well-being. She had seriously considered having children with him. She didn’t because she feared if the marriage did not last; she wouldn’t want to be in a situation of being in a custody battle. She was also hurt because Debbie Rowe, Jackson’s nurse was around at the time offering to bear his children. Michael would try to pressure her and tell her, if she didn’t have children for him, Debbie would.

5.       Her father Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson had intoxicating personalities. They both offered such a fantasy high on life to themselves and shared it with people around them. In order to stay around them you had to play by their rules. If they were approached or consulted with concerns of them taking drugs, they would dispose of people that disagreed with their actions. It was hard to help Jackson. Lisa believed that his family tried to help him.

After watching the show, I believe Lisa agreed to the interview more for therapeutic reasons. She needed to speak her mind and resolve her feelings about the relationship with him. She stated that the interview with the ”Oprah” show would be the one and only time she would discuss this area of her life, aside from her previous mental flow on her blog. It was one of the more interesting “Oprah” interviews and one where his fans could see that she treated the subject of Michael Jackson with careful thought and respect.

"The Mentalist" Fan Theories - Red John

Who is Red John?

The forums are buzzing with all sorts of theories on who could be Red John, the nemesis of Patrick Jane. One theory is Red John could be Brett Partridge. Patridge is the the forensic specialist from the first episode and the season 2 finale. Patridge and Red john both have a weird nasal sounding voice. Patridge's character is underdeveloped despite, making two appearances on the show. The two cases he does appear in, involve a bogus Red John. Patridge's job is to get close to crime scenes which would lend an alter ego the ability to investigate a criminal trying to imitate his work. The Mentalist writers can be quite thorough and complex. They could re-spin and say that he was there from the beginning.
Another theory is that Red John could be Patrick Jane's father. Jane once referred to his father as a con artist. He also stated that all the great con artists are sociopaths. It would be interesting to see an earthly Luke/ Darth Vader spin on this where Red John and Jane face off and Jane has issues about having to kill his own father. Red John seems angry at Jane and loves to taunt him. The anger could go way back in history as resentment for his leaving. Yet Red John has not harmed Jane, but did murder his wife and daughter. The note left on the door of the murder scene read "Your lovely wife and child". Jane often referred to his daughter as his child. He never says little girl or daughter. Perhaps the use of the word child was inherited from his upbringing.

"Criminal Minds": Fans Speak Out on Season Six

Season Six Spoiler "Criminal Minds" now in it's sixth season has lots of surprises in store for fans. It launched on a memorable departure of J.J. This exit concerns fans that the show may loose some of its down to earth moments. The leave makes room for more intense secrets to be revealed about the BAU team. There is an upcoming story line about Reid that will get the forums buzzing.
Simon Mirren, Executive producer releases a teaser that says Spence is hiding a secret associated to his "genetic past." Season six will start to unravel some very emotional plot lines.
Fans Weigh In On "Reflection of Desire"
On November 10, 2010, " Reflection of Desire" aired featuring a story line wrapped around Garcia where producers touted would be exciting. The BAU gets caught up in the search for a kidnapped woman in Washington, D.C. after the homicide of a woman found dressed like 1950s screen gem is reported in a Georgetown alley.
Most fans did not like this episode. Especially in the first fifteen minutes. They could not relate to Garcia being the focus of attention for the killer. they did not see the point of the news conference being used to trick the serial killer out of the house. It didn't make sense transforming her image in such a way to most.
Other fans thought Garcia pulled off glam quite well since that is her natural style. She did an impressive job narrating from start to finish. Prentiss on the other hand would not be able to pull off a 1950's look.
The fans dubbed the killer as having a " Norman Bates" thing at the end which gave them a surprise they didn't expect.
What Fans Want To See In Season 6
Most Fans want to see a return to profiling cases. Its takes the procedural out of a crime show when you start to revolve story lines entirely around BAU members. It looses suspense when you focus to much on a team member and not on a case. For example, to have an episode where Prentiss does not have to bring up her mother or the past. Most fans agree that her character can be improved to lend more to the show. Fans do not want to see a template of episodes that revolve around one person at a time.
More episodes with undercover assignments or suspense timed thrillers when they rush to save someone before it's too late. Introducing more ways to die. Its seems to be streamlined right now.
Season four seemed like the last strong string of episodes in this show before the luster started to wear off. Season 5 had fewer exciting episodes.
Hotch needs work or help. There has to be a way to turn his intensity down a notch. Other fans would like to see less Hotch altogether. Reid should be more active. Fans would like to see the BAU members do things as whole to bond more with each other and have episodes based on team members mixing it up. The interaction between Reid and Morgan seems to have slowed down.
All in all, just episodes where there is more of a storyline rather than a one member bio would be refreshing in itself.

It is Thanksgiving in Wisteria Lane. Lynette and Susan cannot agree on how to get Paige to sleep. Renee gives Tom a reminder of their secret past.Keith's dad (John Schneider) and mom (Nancy Travis) are over at Bree's house for Thanksgiving dinner. It sets the scene for family secrets to be revealed. The Solises hold a special dinner for Grace's family. They find out Carmen (Carla Jiminez): is in the the US illegally.
Beth makes an unsuccessful effort to figure out more about Paul's misdeeds. Felicia wants her daughter Beth to leave Paul. Felicia becomes fearful when she learns Beth is really falling for Paul .
November 21, 2010 "Desperate Housewives" will not be seen due to the American Music Awards.
November 28,2010 is a repeat of the season premiere ,"Remember Paul".
December 5, 2010 Episode 9 "Pleasant Little Kingdom"
Immigration arrives to take Carmen away. They mistake Gaby for being Carmen. Gaby allows them to believe that she is Carmen to give them a chance to get away. Gabrielle wants to keep Grace in her life.
Lee and Paul make an effort to convince an elderly man to sell his house. When the man decides he doesn't wish to sell, Paul and Lee play good cop bad cop. Lee leaves the room so Paul can intimidate him.
A double date between Bree and Keith go on a double date with Keith's and Bree's friend (Cynthia Watros). Keith wants it to be a special dinner. The situation turns severely off course. Fans will have an indication if Keith plans to propose.
Paul's Plans for Wisteria Lane become known. Renee shares a dark secret with Susan.
Tom is angry at Lynette for not disclosing his special attributes to the other ladies.
December 12, 2010 Episode 10 "Down the Block There's a Riot"
Paul's activates his plan. Now that he holds the deed to several homes on Wisteria Lane, he plans on converting them into halfway houses for ex-cons .
A huge crowd of people rally at the opening to protest. One of the housewives angles Andrew to make sure he doesn't plan on selling his home to Paul. She is offered help by a man who was able to stop a similar situation from happening in his neighborhood. The mayor is pelted with food when he attempts to make a speech. The man throwing the food was the man who offered his help stop the selling of homes. A crime scene erupts as the mayor attempts to slide away. A man is attacked in the crowd. The suspect is mistaken to be one of the convicts. In addition, a woman ends up unconscious. One of of our men on Wisteria Lane is also shot. One of the housewives is surprised to come home and find an ex-con inside. He thought he was in the halfway house, but he's not so to leave in a hurry. Lynette finds out about the secret that Tom and Renee have been keeping from her.
On December 19, 2010 and December 26, 2010, "Desperate Housewives" will not be on the air.
January 2, 2011 Episode 11
Detectives question someone who claims their gun was stolen from their suitcase left in a car the same day of the riot. They try to connect the dots to the man shot on Wisteria Lane. Because of the riot, Susan loses a kidney. She also has damage to the second kidney and will need to undergo regular treatments at the hospital. Juanita's doesn't take the news of her not being Gabrielle's biological daughter well. She is convinced that Gabrielle prefers Grace more than her. A therapist recommends that the Solises discard every trace of Grace from their lives. Lynette and Renee are meeting with a client; after the client leaves, a secret is revealed. Paul finds out some interesting news about his wife.
